Dr. Udo Bock

Dr. Udo Bock, a Chemist by training, received his Ph.D. in 1996 in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Saarland University, Germany (Supervisor Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Kallmayer).

As Postdoctoral Fellow, he was associated with Prof. Dr. Claus-Michael Lehr, who simultaneously joined at this time Saarland University as new Head of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics.

After common 1.5-year project with MUCOS Pharma GmbH & Co. KG, Germany on gastrointestinal drug delivery of proteolytic enzymes, he joined the first spin-off from Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics department as first employee.

During 15 years, he holds different positions in preclinical CRO from Head of Cells and Tissue based systems towards Chief Technical Officer (CTO). In in vitro pharmacokinetics he established and prevalidated methods for the skin, intestines, and lungs, as well as challenging barrier models such as the blood-brain barrier, oral mucosa, nose, cervix, and nails. In parallel, he was significantly integrated in establishing analytics and physicochemistry as well as the GLP/GMP quality management system. As CTO, he headed the teams of internal research and development as well as business development department.

In 2014, he founded Bock Project Management and holds position of Managing Director. Bock Project Management is working in Open Innovation in Life Science in the industrial sectors Pharma, Chemistry, Biotechnology and Cosmetics.

Bock Project Management is located in the border triangle of Germany, France, and Luxembourg. The central location within the EU makes it easily accessible for personal exchanges.

Academic Positions

In addition to industrial research and development, he conducts ongoing research at public research institutions.

Start in 2014 until today, Dr. Bock work as Senior Scientist at Department of Environmental Toxicology at Trier University, Germany (Prof. Dr. Brunhilde Blömeke).

In 2017, Dr. Bock worked as Visiting Scientist at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland, Germany, Department of Drug Delivery, Prof. Dr. Claus-Michael Lehr.

Since 2019, he has been conducting research as Visiting Scientist at the University of Bonn, Germany in Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics, Prof. Dr. Alf Lamprecht.

From October 2023 to March 2026, Dr. Bock took on a parallel position as Substitute Professor in Analytical and Ecological Chemistry at Trier University, Germany.
